Blue Dream Cruises Recruits Crew for China Operation – Cruise Industry News

After acquiring the former Glory Sea in 2020, Blue Dream Cruises is recruiting crew members for its cruise operations in China.

According to a report in Chinese media, cruise line is looking for positions for the entire ship, ranging from captain to cruise director, galley staff, housekeeping and more.

Applicants need to prove experience in the intended positions, while manager positions also require “strong team leadership skills,” Blue Dream said.

After kicking off its cruise operations, the company plans to “build a fleet of cruise ships” over the next five years, focusing on opening international cruise routes from China and nearby countries, the report said.

Blue Dream Cruises is also committed to the creation of a “national brand of cruise ship,” offering a high-quality, Chinese-style product.

Originally launched as Royal Olympia Cruises’ Olympic Explorer, the Blue Dream Star is currently the sole vessel in the cruise line’s fleet.

Acquired by Blue Dream in February 2020, the 2002-built cruise ship spent most of its sailing career cruising for Semester at Sea as the Explorer.

In late 2015, the 836-guest vessel was sold to Diamond Cruise, a newcomer to the cruise industry that planned to launch an operation aiming at China’s domestic market.

Renamed Glory Sea, the vessel sailed in Asia through early 2019, when it was arrested and ended up ceasing operations.

Before arriving in the Far East, the Blue Dream Star also sailed for Celestyal Cruises, offering Greek Island cruises as the Celestyal Nefeli.
