With two trips to Scotland in the last few weeks, we’ve had the perfect opportunity to test out the Flextail EVO Repeller, putting it through its paces to bring you our thoughts. Read on to find out more…

We took the Evo Repel on a recent trip to Scotland to put it to the test, The first thing we noticed is the build quality of the product it is a sturdy and robust little unit, The Repellers COB LED tech offers up to 3000lm.
It’s bright enough to illuminate a very large area, but also adjustable. There are four brightness settings and five colour temperatures giving the flexibility of having a bright and clear floodlight but also being able to change the brightness and temperature.
This was the feature we loved most, as it was ideal for creating a cosy mood whilst outdoors during many endless evenings spent stargazing.
The rotating handle comes with a tripod attachment but also a strong magnet in the base allowing it to attach to any nearby metal this kept the light out of the way but without fear of it falling off or getting knocked over.
The repelling aspect works by heating repel matts containing insecticide which fit into the top of the unit these heat up quickly we loaded both sides and left it to do the work, we didn’t notice any odours but we didn’t notice any notorious Scottish midges and Shell who is a magnet for anything bitey stayed bite free.
The final part of the 3-in-1 is, should you need it, the unit can also act as a backup charger, allowing you to plug in and charge USB devices like your mobile device.
It’s a nice added extra, which ensures even if you’re camping or travelling in the middle of nowhere, you won’t be caught short you can safely get back up to a decent battery percentage without worrying about draining the unit and being left in the dark….or at the mercy of the biting beasties.
Verdict
We loved the quality and versatility of the unit and thought that the colour and brightness settings worked really well for our needs. Bright as heck when you need it to be, but also providing muted low-level light too.
We stayed bite-free whilst in Scotland on two separate trips, so anything that manages to keep the midges away is always a bonus, and this will definitely be part of our staple summer gear moving forward.
