The 11 Best Playgrounds in Paris

During the summer months, the park has a charming waterpark with playful fountains to beat the heat. And for the parents? Pick one of the free deck chairs and relax!

The Jardin d’Acclimatation even features a mini zoo, a tranquil pond where you can rent boats, and an area with carousels and rides, for the more action – seeking kids.

Good to know: The entrance to the park isn’t free. (buy your day pass here)

But the Jardin d’Acclimatation entrance free is quite flexible. Because you absolutely can get the all-inclusive pass for all rides and activities. You can also just pay the entrance fee of €7 to access the playgrounds, the zoo, and spend a wonderful day out.

#2 Jardin du Luxembourg

The Ludo Jardin Playground located within the Luxembourg Gardens is a great place to stop with kids for a break from sightseeing. Even though this playground charges a small fee, it is worth the price of admission. 

The playground has plenty to keep kids of all ages entertained. There are teeter totters, slides, balance beams, and more. The playground equipment is nature-themed with logs and wood used for most of the play structures. 

The entire playground is fenced in, so adults can relax on one of the benches lining the playground without worrying about the kids wandering off. 

There are even more activities to enjoy within the Luxembourg Gardens. Kids can sail a boat, ride the carousel, and attend a puppet show. 

The Luxembourg Gardens are conveniently located near various key Parisian sights. Just a short walk away, you’ll find the iconic Panthéon.

A leisurely stroll towards the Seine leads to the famed Latin Quarter with sights like the Cluny Museum, Curie Museum, and the Jardin des Plantes.

Or, continue on to Île de la Cité to see Notre-Dame Cathedral and Sainte-Chapelle.

What sets it apart is the fantastic play areas, the best and most extensive we’ve found in Paris. These play zones are intelligently spaced with patches of greenery in between, making it easier to keep an eye on your little ones.

But Parc Floral offers much more than just play. It’s a place to savor the entire day. The park’s captivating garden boasts lush greenhouses, a tranquil lake, and comes alive with lively jazz concerts during the summer.

It’s not a mere pit stop between tourist attractions; it’s a sanctuary where you’ll want to spend several hours. Parc Floral is a must-visit for a leisurely and delightful day out in Paris. Bring your picnic and enjoy the day.

Plus, a quick tip: the Château de Vincennes is just a stone’s throw away. They often host medieval events with knights and swords, definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area!

#4 Parc de la Villette

The playground at La Villette in Paris offers a change from the city’s usual charm, and you’re in for a treat. Situated in the northeastern part of the city, La Villette has transformed into a vibrant cultural hub.

Here, you’ll find many event venues like Trabendo and Cabaret Sauvage, along with attractions such as the Parisian Science Museum, Cité de Science, and the Philarmonie de Paris.

Now, let’s talk about the playgrounds. The star of the show is the Jardin de Dragon at La Villette, featuring a thrillingly massive slide that’s bound to excite every kid.

#6 Parc Monceau – a classic Paris Playground

Parc Monceau is a fantastic place to take a break from your Paris sightseeing, and somewhere the kids could easily spend a couple of hours.

It’s a 10-minute walk along Avenue Hoche from the Arc de Triomphe, and not too far from Montmartre.

The playground is hugely popular, with kids happily clambering on the small rope climbs and slides. There are also plenty of other things to do with kids in Parc Monceau.

There is a wide grassy area for playing football, pony rides for smaller children and a gorgeous carousel based on Jules Verne’s  Around the World in 80 Days. 

There is also plenty for Mum and Dad to see too, including a series of follies and a picturesque 18th-century Corinthian-style colonnade next to a pond.

#7 Berges de Seine

Are the Berges de Seine a playground in Paris? Well, not primarily, at least. The Berges are a pedestrian zone running along both sides of the Seine River.

Once a bustling expressway named Georges Pompidou, today, it’s a beloved promenade, hugging the Seine’s banks. Along this scenic route, you’ll discover charming beer gardens, snack bars, play areas, sports equipment, and inviting picnic spots.

While the Berges de Seine may not be a traditional playground, it’s an ideal place to unwind and let your kids run and play freely. And you do find a few playgrounds and structures along the way.

That’s precisely why the Berges deserve a spot on this list of the best places for family fun in Paris.

#8 Jardin Trulliot

If you’re exploring the Bastille or shopping in the Marais, a perfect detour is the peaceful quiet of the 11th Arrondissement. With its wide boulevards and green spaces, it’s a breath of fresh air in busy Paris. 

Right between Richard Lenoir Metro station and Saint-Ambrose station, you’ll find this hidden gem of a garden with views of a magnificent neo-gothic church. 

Community gardens of vegetables and flowers are dotted with benches, water fountains, and several children’s play areas, making Jardin Trulliot a lovely pit stop for children and adults alike. 

The playgrounds are gated, so sneaky toddlers can’t escape, and they all have nice benches in the shade for parents. Kids will love the climbing structures, balance logs, rock walls, ladder bridges, and play houses. 

If you need a nearby snack, the Atelier Guinot Baker offers some lovely french pastries, along with juices, sandwiches and delicious cakes.

Don’t forget to stop by the fountains at Square et Promenade Richard Lenoir, great for getting your feet wet on a hot Paris day.

#9 Jardin de Tuileries

Right between the famous Louvre Museum and Place de la Concorde, you’ll discover a special spot for families: the Aire de Jeux in the Jardin des Tuileries.

What’s so great about it? Well, it’s all because of its fantastic location. This playground is an excellent place to take a break in the middle of another enchanting day in Paris.

Your kids can have a blast on the modern play equipment, while you enjoy glimpses of the impressive Louvre just nearby.

The Aire de Jeux is pure magic for families. The playground’s design includes a fantastic rope climbing structure, set amidst vibrant flower beds and complete with a slide – perfect for older kids. And don’t worry, there’s more play equipment for younger children at ground level.

Here’s a tip: visit in the late afternoon or early evening. When the sun sets, the Jardin des Tuileries looks incredibly beautiful. You can take a breather, watch your little ones play, and let the timeless beauty of Paris wash over you. For lesser crowds, come in the morning, though.

#10 Paris Playgrounds: Montmartre

Montmartre isn’t just the renowned artist’s quarter of Paris, with the Sacre Coeur atop the hill. It’s also a thriving residential neighborhood in Paris, complete with schools, kindergartens, and, of course, playgrounds. So, as you explore Montmartre, you won’t have any trouble finding places for your kids to take a break and have some fun.

That being said, Montmartre is a relatively small area with narrow streets and a steep hill. So, don’t expect grand, sprawling playgrounds. Instead, you’ll discover quaint little corners and squares with one or two modest play structures for your little ones to enjoy.

Square Suzanne Buisson Playground

This is the largest playground in Montmartre, offering a welcome escape from the bustling streets of this vibrant neighborhood. When you’re traveling with kids, the chance to enjoy a more relaxed atmosphere is a refreshing change of pace.

The park is, as is typical with Paris playgrounds, enclosed for safety. In addition to the play and climbing structures, there’s an abundance of open space for your little ones to play and run freely.

Square de la Turlure

Square de la Turlure is a lovely park that stretches along the Montmartre hills. It’s situated just north of the Sacre Coeur and offers a unique terraced layout, with the park running from the summit down to street level.

As you descend, you’ll come across a simple yet enjoyable playground for kids. During your walk, you can also appreciate the greenery and catch some great views of Paris along the way. It’s a peaceful spot I like to visit with my family, and I think you’ll find it quite pleasant too.

Playground at the Sacre Coeur

This playground, to be honest, is more like a small play area than a full-fledged playground. It consists of just a single structure located beneath the Sacre Cœur.

However, if you’re visiting Paris with a toddler, it can be a handy spot to let them stretch their legs and take a break from the stroller.

#11 Georges Brassens Playground

George Brassens Park holds a special place in my heart as it’s close to my home, and I’ve created countless cherished memories here with my children. Now, I might be a tad biased, but I genuinely believe it’s a beautiful park with an exceptional playground.

In recent times, they’ve given the park a makeover, and it’s even better than before. Among the highlights are the substantial play structures, perfect for older kids, and a separate area for the little ones. And let’s not forget the intriguing climbing cubes, waiting to be conquered.

But there’s more to this park than just the playground. There’s a charming duck pond, a little river, and even tiny waterfalls that can be a bit tricky to locate. In fact, I stumbled upon them when my son, always eager to explore, showed me the way.

You’ll find this hidden gem behind the clock tower at the pond. It’s these little surprises that make George Brassens Park truly special.
