The Arabian Oryx stays majestic with its straight as well as long horns with unique white shape. You can spot the animal commonly from the Dubai Desert Conservation region and also from the desert terrains nearby Bab Al Shams. Two distinct species of this mammal are found to be in the United Arab Emirates. The Mountain Gazelle is primarily found in the mountainous areas as well as on gravel plains. The Arabian Sand Gazelle, also known as Reem Gazelle remains slightly different from the former species and has been reintroduced into the woods over two decades ago. During the times of danger, the Mountain Gazelle can reach speeds of around 65 km/h. This creature is highly territorial by marking its region with the secretion of a wax-like substance. The Reem Gazelle is a vulnerable animal found to be there in the international endangered animals’ list and is considered to be extinct in all other regions of Arabia.

Birds

The rare of the rarest Asian Houbara Bustard also called the MacQueen’s Bustard is the remarkable one among the varied species of birds in desert plains. You can spot these species of migratory birds nearby the Al Qudra lake, the man-made water body located at the Seih Al Salam desert. The Dubai sands are rich with reptiles including geckos, lizards and toads. Spiny-Tailed lizards are highly suitable for the desert atmosphere. These crawling creatures are expected to survive with little vegetation for several months and it is estimated to live for around 80 years. There also lies the Geckos, the largest reptile of its kind which  is remarkably noted by its reflective eyes.

If you are planning for a getaway to Dubai desert, never miss the incredible wonderments of its wildlife. Yet another important note to observe while exploring the wildlife is, it is expected to be conserved and not to be disturbed in its natural environment.
