Friedrich Norden Appointed as New Managing Director of Lloyd Werft – Cruise Industry News

Rönner Group and Gustav Zech Stiftung appointed Friedrich Norden as the new managing director of Lloyd Werft Bremerhaven.

The decision is effective as of December 1, 2022, according to a company statement.

“I am looking forward to the challenges and projects ahead for me with Lloyd Werft and would like to thank the shareholders for their trust,” said Norden.

“In spite of the current difficult conditions, I am certain that we will be able to return Lloyd Werft to its old glory. In order to reach this target, we have started again drydock and repair work for all kinds of vessels.

Participation in the yacht exhibitions in Monaco and Fort Lauderdale in autumn also had great success with the introduction of our new green mega yacht project “Albatross”, returning a positive response from the industry,” he said.

Norden, who was previously a project manager at Lloyd Werft, will act as further managing director for the traditional shipyard together with Thorsten Rönner.

Norden has spent his entire career at Lloyd Werft, beginning as an industrial mechanic from 1989 through 1991, followed by a two-year course of studies in mechanical engineering.

While Norden did get a degree to become a schoolteacher, he returned to Lloyd Werft in 2002 as an estimator in the project department becoming a project manager for large newbuilding and conversions from 2006 onwards.

All four dock ships of the “Combi Dock” series (2005 – 2010) were built under Norden’s management.

Norden became head of purchasing of the shipyard in April 2012. In 2014, Norden was head of the project department as well as project manager for the newbuilding yacht project “Solaris”.
