Movenpick Resort Boracay Island Review

This resort would be the entire package for me, but it’s better to be clear before you go: The Movenpick Resort on Boracay Island is a resort for kids. We had an amazing time there, and I can tell that it’s the kind of place where we could have spent weeks. A note about my experience: I travelled with my family, not with kids.

They continued to talk about their experience in the Philippines almost every day. One of the things they loved the most was how friendly and helpful the people were. We had a great time at Movenpick Boracay and would recommend it to anyone visiting the island. Here are some of the features we loved, including how big the pool was!

It’s located on its private beach – Punta Bunga

Punta Bunga sits on a flat, beautiful stretch of land. It was amazing to spend the morning kayaking around its serene waters, although I did keep an eye out for others who might be sharing the water with me. The sun came out and it felt like summer, so when my friends had finished all their activities on the beach we headed there to enjoy some rays. Kalyra jumped on the stand-up paddleboard and I grabbed the kayak to explore some more of the area’s quieter beaches south of Punta Bunga.

In the morning, there’s free availability for snorkelling gear. Paddleboards and kayaks are also available for rent. Beach chairs won’t cost you expensive shakes like at Puka Beach in Boracay. As it’s a private beach, you’ll have plenty of space without dealing too much with crowds either. One of the best reasons to stay at this incredible Boracay resort.

It’s away from White Beach, Boracay Island

We visited White Beach in low season, and it was really crowded. The overcast weather on our trip meant we didn’t see it shining with its white wash. I’ve seen pictures of when it’s more white, and it looks stunning!

I loved the laid-back atmosphere of White Beach Station 2, but it would have been perfect for solo travellers. I would have been lying on a beanbag, near the beach with a bucket of beer beside me. But this isn’t what I’m after now. There are many great restaurants in Station 2 on White Beach, and a sunset stroll along the coast is worth the experience. I recommend this for families but love that Movenpick Resort gave us the chance to escape the madness.

Free shuttle to White Beach

If you want to go to White Beach, the Movenpick Resort makes it easier with free shuttles running all day. The shuttles run on the hour until 5 pm and then once every half an hour. It’s a twenty-minute drive from the Movenpick Resort into White Beach, and you’ll get to enjoy glimpses of village life as you make your way along the roads.

The Movenpick Resort is brand new.

The Movenpick Boracay wasn’t even open when we visited!

Previously, one building was Sol Marina Resort. However, Movenpick, Boracay took over management to rebuild the resort and add in facilities and rooms. As a result, it meant the resort was very quiet for us with only a few guests staying during the soft opening phase. There was also construction going on around us, but no part of it bothered our peace at all. One exciting feature they plan on completing by the opening date is a beach bar with live music and international DJs and performers. It will be located inside the resort’s Sol Marina Beach Club.

Movenpick, Boracay: Biggest resort pool ever.

We had a tough time getting our kids out of the pool every day. We wanted to explore the other beaches on Boracay Island, but they only wanted to swim from one level of the pool to the spa and back again. At 3,300 square meters, this is the biggest resort pool on Boracay Island. I’ve never seen a pool as big as this one. The kids are going to love staying at this resort with its lifeguards and ocean views. You have plenty of lounge chairs – I especially loved those in the deep end with their own little spot – and a swim up bar.

Attentive and friendly staff

One of the sweetest words anyone can ever hear is their name. It surprised me how staff members remembered everyone’s names, even if they only met us by the pool. As soon as you arrive at the pool, they greet you with a warm smile and set up a chair for you. They bring out fruit snacks around the pool for you to enjoy and always have time for conversation. The service in all of the restaurants was also great.

You’ll feel like you get the VIP treatment at the Movenpick Resort Boracay. Outstanding service will make you want to stay again and again.

Free chocolate hour

I’m not a fan of chocolate, so this particular feature of the Movenpick Boracay wasn’t all too exciting for me. Things were different for the other three members of our family!

Every afternoon at 4 PM, I go to the cafe and eat as many chocolate desserts as I can. Personally, I love their signature chocolate mousse (divine!) and the authentic hot chocolate from Peru. Savannah isn’t a big fan of all the chili.

Movenpick Resort Review: Great restaurants

Instead of going to the restaurants for dinner, we stayed in. Both girls were so tired from our long day that they didn’t want to go out into White Beach — and neither did I! It was so nice just to enjoy some family time, relaxing and enjoying ourselves. This is something that doesn’t happen often, with all the traveling around we do on a daily basis.

One of the best things about The Movenpick is the wide variety of places to eat. The Market is a great place for all-day dining, and on weekend mornings you can have breakfast at the buffet. Ssäm cooks Korean BBQ, but it was our first time experiencing this type of cooking, and we loved it.
