Is staying active when you have a desk job a struggle for you? It’s definitely one of my biggest challenges!

On a busy day, I’ll sometimes look at my Fitbit and feel ashamed of how little I’ve moved. When your commute is a bleary-eyed stumble from bed to the home office, it’s easy to slip into a sedentary lifestyle. But there is a solution that allows you to keep fit while staying productive and, most importantly for your boss, active on Teams!

Flexispot sent me their Cycle Desk Bike V9 Pro with desktop to review and I have had a blast trialling it for the past few months.

Flexispot exercise desk bike

The Cycle Desk Bike V9 pro is an ergonomic exercise bike with a handy desktop attachment that lets you rest your laptop on it and get some work done while you cycle.

It can be used at home or in your office, depending how tolerant your boss is! I even took mine outside into the back garden one day when I was craving some sunshine.

Key features of the Flexispot Cycle Desk Bike V9 Pro

One of the key features is the Pneumatic Adjustment Lever which means you can adjust the seat height to suit you. I found this essential because I’m only 5’2 with short legs, so I needed to put the seat at a lower height.

The bike’s integrated digital display shows you how long you’ve been active along with the calories burned and speed you’re cycling.

You do have to purchase batteries separately to make the display work, so for the first week or two I wasn’t using this feature.

There are eight resistance levels meaning you can exert yourself as much or as little as you like.

There’s a cup holder on the bike but it’s very shallow so I don’t tend to use it.

Ease of assembly of the Flexispot Cycle Desk Bike V9 Pro

The Cycle Desk Bike V9 Pro and Desktop attachment arrived at my house in two separate packages. It was very straightforward to assemble, and it’s easy to remove the desktop attachment.

Sturdiness and design of the Flexispot Cycle Desk Bike V9 Pro

I’ve found the bike seat comfortable and the desktop is big enough for my laptop and anything else I might need to hand.

The padded armrest is also comfortable, although I do find resting on it causes the desktop to wobble very slightly. It isn’t a problem when just working as normal, luckily, but I have to be careful during video calls.

Exercise desk for work and activity

As well as an adjustable seat, the V9 has an adjustable desktop so you really can customise the bike to suit your measurements.

I like that I can adjust the desktop height if I get tired of sitting down and want to stand while I work for a change.

The bike has also improved my ongoing issue with my neck – because I often stand or sit at my kitchen island and work on my laptop, I’m looking down at my screen which obviously isn’t good for you.

Now, I use the adjustable desktop so my bones are very happy! I feel like it’s improving my posture too.

The wheels have lockable gravity canisters, meaning you won’t slip around while you’re using the bike. I’ve used it on both carpet and hardwood flooring.

Usability of the Flexispot Cycle Desk Bike V9 Pro

I was worried about the noise this piece of equipment might make but happily, it’s very quiet.

It’s also easy to use as you basically just hop on and start pedalling. There are no pedal straps, which I prefer.

I’ve learned not to pedal when I’m on a video call because bobbing around on the screen looks a bit odd!

The wheels make it easy to move the bike around. I’ve even found my husband cycling away while watching the football.

How to store the Cycle Desk Bike V9 Pro and Desktop attachment

In comparison to other home workout machines, this piece of kit is very compact. You can even fold the feet and pedals in to save more room, meaning the bike takes up minimal floorspace.

I keep mine in my regular workspace in the kitchen during the working week because I’m more likely to use it if it isn’t packed away, but I do store it in the utility room at the weekend. I find it better than a regular exercise bike in that regard because it’s easy to move it to another spot when you need to.
