Norwegian Cruise Line’s second Prima-class ship was floated out of the shipyard in Marghera, Italy today — just a few days after the delivery of the first ship in the class, Norwegian Prima, on July 29.
Like her sister ships, Norwegian Viva will be 142,500 gross tons and almost 300 meters long, accommodating 3,215 guests.
The Prima class is based on a prototype project developed by Fincantieri, which enhances the features of Norwegian Cruise Line’s signature offering of freedom and flexibility. Focus was set on energy efficiency, with the aim of optimizing consumption at sea and reducing environmental impact.
Norwegian Viva will feature an outdoor promenade deck called Ocean Boulevard, complete with plenty of conversation areas, a glass bridge, and Infinity Beach — two infinity pools located right on Ocean Boulevard.
This promenade deck is also home to al fresco seating for a variety of restaurants, including Italian venue Onda by Scarpetta, Mexican restaurant Los Lobos, and the complimentary 24-hour eatery The Local Bar & Grill.

A new dining concept for Norwegian Cruise Line will debut on Norwegian Prima and be found across all of the Prima-class: Indulge Food Hall. Designed to replace the buffet, this space will include themed stations where guests can go around and try different dishes. It will also be home to the ship’s Starbucks, as well as Coco’s dessert shop.
The ship will include Norwegian’s longest go-kart racetrack to date — the three-level Viva Speedway. It’ll also feature a brand-new 10-story slide called The Drop, which is the first free-fall dry slide in the world, as well as The Rush dueling slides.
And as has been seen on Norwegian Joy and Encore, Viva will feature the Galaxy Pavilion area, complete with a TopGolf Swing Suite, escape rooms, racing simulators, and virtual reality experiences.
Norwegian Viva is scheduled to debut in July 2023. Deliveries for Norwegian’s Prima-class are expected through 2027, starting with Norwegian Prima which is set to launch later this month.
