Bohol is a popular tourist destination in the Philippines and is notorious for being fairly ecofriendly and trying to preserve a lot of their natural habitats from the Tarsier Sanctuary, Chocolate Hills, and of course the man made forest in Bohol. As you travel around the island, there is no doubt that you won’t run into the man made forest in Bohol.

The trees within the man made forest were planted over 50 years ago and are one of the only places you will see a mahogany tree in the Philippines. The trees at the Bohol man made Forest are known to all stand around the same height. The forest is quite thick with trees and barely lets the sunshine inside making it dark and cool from the warm humid weather in the Philippines.

When you arrive the man made forest it can be quite dangerous as there is no parking and often times there can be traffic within the area. A lot of taxis will park along the side of the road and it can be difficult to take pictures as cars are trying to pass through. Be sure to take some caution while getting the photos you want here.

How to get to the man made forest in Bohol

There are a few different options on how to get to Bohol, you can easily take a ferry boat from Cebu or take a flight from Manila. This all depends on where you are coming from. 

To get to Bohol from Cebu City, you will need to get to the Ferry Terminal.  You will need to take a ferry from Cebu City to Bohol. In the Philippines, you do not typically book your tickets in advance as their online. Their systems are not very accurate, so you should get there early to get your tickets.  You can also get tickets as soon as you arrive in the Philippines. Once you arrive in Bohol, it’s highly suggested to hire a driver and it truly helps them make money for their family. It’s more affordable than renting a car and much safer too. It’s about $20 per day and you can see more than just the Bohol man made forest!

Chocolate Hills in Bohol - Things to do near Bohol Man Made Forest

These are a lot of the popular things to do in Bohol. There are a lot of beautiful sites to see and so much to do. These Bohol tourist attractions should really be on your list!

  • Chocolate Hills – Probably one of the most popular sites within Bohol. These beautiful chocolate hills are a site to see and are quite different than anything else around the world. 
  • Tarsier Sanctuary – You can see some of the smallest primates in the world. These rare beauties are being protected by the sanctuary to prevent them from getting hurt.
  • Loboc River Cruise – Probably one of the most romantic things to see and do within Bohol. It’s quite relaxing, calming, and just overall good and relaxing fun. 
  • Hanging Bridge – An bridge made of bamboo that hangs over a river. It’s quite bouncy but on the other side of the bridge, you can easily do some souvenir shopping. 
  • Butterfly Garden – If you are interested in seeing some butterflies and seeing their different stages, this is a great garden to check out. It’s perfect for kids! If you are lucky, maybe a butterfly will land on you! 
  • Blood Compact Shrine – This statue represents an important event in Philippine history. 
  • Bohol Bee Farm – A great place to get some locally made ice cream and see from start to finish how to harvest honey and learn about sustainability. 
  • Shell Museum – This shell museum is quite interesting and you can see some pretty large shells that have been found around the island. 
  • Beaches – There are so many beaches to swim in and so many resorts to visit. These beaches are some of the most beautiful and cleanest. 

Where to stay in Bohol

There are a lot of places you can stay in Bohol but some of my favorite spots are below. I highly suggest the exclusive Private Villa if you can afford it. It’s a great location for those going for their honeymoon or wanting a romantic and exclusive getaway.
