Thinking of warmer days, and hitting the road in your trusted RV? Here’s a list of fun, pandemic-friendly spring getaways for you to consider.
Southern US
Cloudland Canyon State Park. This scenic state park in Rising Fawn, Georgia is a short drive from highway 59. There are several campgrounds nearby to stay and park your rig while you explore the park and the natural beauty and vistas you will find here.
US Choctaw Lakes Campground. If fishing and staying near your camper sounds like a great way to spend the day, Choctaw Lakes may be the perfect getaway for you. Located in Ackerman, Mississippi, scenic Choctaw Lake Campground wraps around Choctaw Lake in the Tombigbee National Forest of Mississippi. There are ample opportunities for recreation, including fishing, boating, hiking and biking. There is a swimming beach and lots of waterfowl.
Eastern US
Assateague State Park, Maryland. With miles of pristine beaches and wetlands, this barrier island area is RV-friendly and full of beauty. Assateague State Park is Maryland’s only oceanfront park. It is located on Assateague Island, a barrier island bordered by the Atlantic Ocean on the east and the Sinepuxent Bay on the west. Its two miles of ocean beaches offer swimming, beach combing, sunbathing, surfing and fishing. The bay side offers visitors the chance to explore secluded coves by canoe or kayak. The marsh areas have a variety of wildlife, including deer, waterfowl and feral horses.
The Channels Natural Area Preserve. This unique State Park in Abingdon, Virginia is perfect for the explorers and hiker RV crowd. Lying in an area of significant high elevation forest, it is accessible not by RV but a short drive from Blacksburg and Highway 81 camping options. You will find a maze-like system of sandstone crevices and boulders that occur near the 4208ft. summit of Middle Knob on Clinch mountain. The 721-acre Channels Natural Area Preserve is part of a 4,836 acre State Forest that was purchased by the Department of Forestry from The Nature Conservancy in March 2008.
Northern US
Malheur National Forest, Eastern Oregon. Stay at Magone Lake Campground and park your RV while you explore the rushing rivers and plethora of hiking and biking trails of this pristine National Forest. The 1.7 million acre Malheur National Forest is located in the Blue Mountains of Eastern Oregon. The diverse and beautiful scenery of the forest includes high desert grasslands, sage and juniper, pine, fir and other tree species, and hidden gems of alpine lakes and meadows.
Five Springs Falls Campground. Suitable for RVs under 25 ft, Five Springs Falls Campground provides an excellent opportunity for camping, hiking, picnicking, and sightseeing. The city of Lovell, Wyoming is 22 miles away. The elevation ranges from 6,520 feet at the campground to 7,240 feet at the forest boundary. This area offers breathtaking views of northern Bighorn Basin with a panoramic view of the Bighorn, Pryor, and Absaroka Mountains. Wildlife in the area include: deer, elk, moose, black bears and mountain lions.
Western US
Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest. With 21 campgrounds in this large desert National treasure, plenty of RV options abound. This vast forest and desert mix area encompasses over two million acres of magnificent mountain country in east-central Arizona. The major attractions are the Mogollon Rim and eight cold-water lakes. From the Mogollon Rim’s 7,600- foot elevation, vista points provide inspiring views of the low lands to the south. The Rim extends two hundred miles from Flagstaff into western New Mexico.
Boulder City, Nevada. Boulder City is far away, yet close to everything. If you’ve ever wanted to visit the Hoover Dam, Lake Mead or even golf, Canyon Trail RV Park is the ideal place to park your camper. The Hoover Dam is located just a few miles away and Vegas is only about 20 miles. Boulder City has a great mix of nature and city amusements to satisfy all your getaway desires.
