Fortunately, if you live in or near Dallas, Texas, there are countless affordable flights out of DFW to anywhere. And I do mean anywhere. For the list below, I limited myself to destinations in the continental US for one simple reason: I wanted specifically to highlight cheap flights from Dallas under $100. Wherever you want to go, chances are there is an affordable way to get there. The key is doing your homework. That means paying attention to the way airfare prices rise and fall from season to season. It means looking into which airlines offer the best deals. It means scouring multiple booking sites. And it means booking your flight at the right time, so that you’re taking advantage of early adopter discounts or last-minute cancellations.

It might seem like a lot of work, but it pays off. When you’re relaxing in the vacation hotspot of your dreams, and you know that you can stay a couple of days longer, or go somewhere a bit more expensive, or bring a few extra souvenirs home… yeah, it definitely pays off.

What about NYC’s lesser-known attractions, though? Once you’ve seen the aforementioned tourist staples, where do you go from there?

For maximum fun in the East Coast sun, I recommend taking a day trip to Coney Island. Here, you can stroll along the historic boardwalk or take a ride on The Cyclone, a vintage roller coaster from 1927. You can also take a dip in the Atlantic at Brighton Beach, go fishing at Sheepshead Bay, and grab a foot-long at Nathan’s Original, the 1905 birthplace of the iconic hot dog brand. Where else can you take selfies with the Liberty Bell, make like Rocky and jog up the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and then go for ice cream at Bassetts Ice Cream, the oldest shop of its kind in America, all in one day?

Maybe you prefer making your own sweet snacks. In that case, you won’t want to skip Reading Terminal Market. Since 1893, this giant indoor farmers market has been the top spot for both locals and tourists looking to purchase fresh ingredients. While there, you can also sample artisanal cheeses and craft spirits, homemade pretzels from the Pennsylvania Dutch, and the famous roast pork at DiNic’s, named “Best Sandwich in America” by Travel Channel.

6. Dallas to Phoenix, Arizona ($80 roundtrip)

Phoenix, Arizona might not seem like a destination worth visiting, even if it is one of the cheapest places to fly from Dallas. After all, Arizona and Texas are pretty similar, aren’t they? While they may share a hot climate and lots of dusty desert landscapes, you’ll find plenty of unique things to love after touching down at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX).

With its colorful residences and glittering skyscrapers, Phoenix, AZ, is a beautiful city.

One thing you definitely won’t find back in Texas, or anywhere else for that matter, is the Mystery Castle. Built in the 1930s by the eccentric Boyce Luther Gulley, this massive, 18-room, three-story labor of love was constructed entirely from whatever materials Gulley could find or acquire for cheap. That includes not just stone, mortar, and cement, but also car parts, telephone poles, and even mine-cart rail tracks!

Another thing you might not expect to find in an arid region like Phoenix is lush foliage. Surprise yourself with a visit to the Desert Botanical Garden, where vibrant flowers in every color of the rainbow offer a stark contrast to the ruddy sands of the Sonoran Desert.

Obviously, the biggest draw here is Rocky Mountain National Park. In addition to housing the majestic, 14,259-foot-tall Longs Peak, it’s a great spot to go hiking, camping, rock climbing, or wildlife watching.

If you’re a real animal lover the Denver Zoo is a must-see, too. One of the most popular attractions in the city, more than 4,000 critters call this place home. On the other hand, if you’re more interested in history, you’ll want to swing by the Molly Brown House Museum. Previously the private residence of Molly Brown, who famously survived the sinking of the Titanic, the property now acts as a time machine, taking visitors back to the turn of the 20th century.

When looking for cheap and/or last-minute travel deals from Dallas, there is no one right answer when it comes to the question of direct flights vs. connecting flights. Although non-stop flights from Dallas are usually more expensive, that isn’t always the case.

The price you pay for DFW airline tickets depends largely on where you’re traveling and when you book your flight. Also worth noting is the fact that transfer flights may be cheaper, but they often take much longer. Are one-way flights from Dallas cheaper than roundtrip tickets?

The question of whether one-way flights from DFW are cheaper than roundtrip flights might seem cut and dry. After all, roundtrip flights are actually two flights, so they must be more expensive, right?

Wrong. Once again, there is no hard-and-fast rule here. As is the case with direct flights and transfer flights, the price you pay on airfare from DFW is dependent on where and when you’re flying. In fact, airlines will sometimes offer discounts on roundtrip tickets, which ultimately makes them cheaper than one-way tickets.
