Norwegian Cruise Line has canceled a month of voyages on Norwegian Joy in early 2024 so the ship can go into dry dock.
In an email, the line informed booked guests that their voyages had been canceled, saying “As part of our commitment to continuously offer extraordinary vacation experiences around the world for our guests, and to uphold a consistent world-class product across our fleet, Norwegian Joy will be undergoing a revitalization in early 2024. In order to complete these enhancements, Norwegian Joy sailings from January 6, 2024 through and including February 10, 2024 have been canceled.”
Four cruises are impacted by the change in plans, including two one-way 15-night Panama Canal sailings between Miami and Los Angeles. A five-night Mexican Riviera voyage out of Los Angeles and a seven-night western Caribbean itinerary from Miami were also canceled.
Guests who have been impacted by the cancellations will automatically receive a full refund to the original form of payment. Those who booked using a future cruise credit will see the credit returned to their Latitudes account. Passengers will also receive a 10 percent future cruise credit that can be used for any NCL sailing through December 31, 2024.

Following the dry dock, Norwegian Joy‘s next scheduled cruise is a seven-night sailing from Miami to Roatán, Harvest Caye, Costa Maya, and Cozumel. The ship is scheduled to continue operating western Caribbean voyages through the end of March. In April 2024, the ship will offer a short series of Bermuda cruises from New York City and then spend the rest of the summer offering mostly seven-night cruises from New York to Bermuda and Virginia.
Norwegian Joy debuted in 2017 and was originally designed for — and sailed in — the Chinese market. By early 2019, though, Norwegian Cruise Line had pulled the ship from Asia and overhauled many of the public spaces to better suit it for the North American market. It debuted in the U.S. in April 2019 and spent that summer operating voyages to Alaska.
