Japan is open to tourists again, and there’s one addition to must-visit destinations, especially for fans of Studio Ghibli films. The whimsical Ghibli Park finally opened on November 1, 2022, with entries limited to Japanese residents only. But here’s the good news: ticket reservations are finally open to international tourists and here’s how you can get them.

According to the Ghibli Park website, reservations for March 15 to April 30, 2023 tickets will open on January 10, 2023, at 2 PM (Japan Standard Time) via the international ticket site.

How to get tickets to Ghibli Park

Ghibli Park is located inside the Expo 2005 Aichi Commemorative Park, which has free admission. However, you’ll need to purchase tickets to explore each area of Ghibli Park.

Tickets are booked via Lawson’s Boo-Woo Tickets or JTB travel agency.

On January 10, 2023, international visitors may reserve tickets through the international site. Specific dates and times of entry are to be provided during the booking process. Walk-ins are not allowed. Check the park calendar here.

The international site, however, only has tickets for the Grand Warehouse attraction with a limited entry time starting at 12 PM.

Timeout.com suggests the best way to secure tickets is via the JTB travel agency.

As of writing, the following attractions inside Ghibli Park are open: Grand Warehouse, Hill of Youth, and Dondoko Forest. Other themed areas such as Mononoke Village will open in autumn 2023 while the Valley of Witches will be ready in March 2024.
