Although her official release date is nearly a year away, Carnival Jubilee‘s construction is progressing as planned. The Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, provided an update on the Excel-class cruise ship today, already showing her name and livery on parts of the hull in a picture released on Monday.
Carnival Jubilee will have many of the same features as her sisters, Mardi Gras and Carnival Celebration, such as the Waterworks Aqua park, Shaq’s Big Chicken, and of course, one of only three rollercoasters at sea, Bolt.
Carnival Jubilee Construction Update
Carnival Cruise Line’s third Excel-class cruise ship, Carnival Jubilee, is currently under construction at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. While her sisters, Carnival Celebration and Mardi Gras, were both constructed at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland, Carnival Jubilee is the first to be built in Germany for the Miami-based cruise line in that class.
And that is something to be proud of for the famous German shipyard. In a picture update from the yard, posted earlier today, December 5, the vessel is already looking recognizable, despite the fact we are still a little over ten months away from her intended release date.
The shipyard has already painted the forward section of the hull, partially revealing the artwork around the cruise ship’s name. Construction of Carnival Jubilee started in March of this year when Carnival and the shipyard celebrated the cutting of the first steel.

Since then, the construction has been moving at a steady pace, with the keel-laying ceremony in July 2023. Back in August of this year, we could see the Bridge sections put into place.
At the time, P&O UK’s new cruise ship Arvia needed to move away to be able to install the engine block. This has now been completed, and we can already see the start of what will be the Summer Landing area aft of the cruise ship. Here Carnival will open the Heroes Tribute Lounge, Guy’s Pig & Anchor Smokehouse, and more.
In the coming months, the shipyard will install the world-famous rollercoaster BOLT, and hopefully, disclose more details about this exciting new cruise ship, as several areas on decks 6, 7, and 8 are scheduled to be revealed in the near future.
Given the speed that the German shipyard is putting Carnival Jubilee together, there is little doubt that the 182,800 gross ton cruise ship, which will have a guest capacity of over 5,200 passengers, will be ready for operations on time for her debut in Galveston.
Sailing October 30
Like her sister, Carnival Celebration, Carnival Jubilee will sail on her maiden voyage from Southampton in the United Kingdom. This transatlantic cruise will call on several European ports, such as La Coruna and Vigo in Spain; Funchal, Madeira; and Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Las Palmas in the Canary Islands.

After six days at sea, she will arrive at Grand Turk before heading to her new home, Galveston, Texas. Here Carnival Cruise Line will celebrate the traditional naming ceremony before Jubilee starts her maiden Caribbean cruise season.
From her homeport in Texas, she will be operating seven-day cruises to the Western Caribbean starting November 18, 2023, including voyages to Cozumel and Costa Maya in Mexico and Mahogany Bay on Isa Roatan, Honduras. Carnival Jubilee will be based year-round in Galveston.
