Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines’ Balmoral to Offer Sailings from Portsmouth – Cruise Industry News


Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines announced that it will offer a selection of festive sailings from Portsmouth, England this December exploring South America and the Antarctic. 

Clare Ward, director of product and customer service at Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines said: “At Fred. Olsen, we have almost 200 years of seafaring history, and so to welcome guests aboard from Portsmouth, a city with rich maritime heritage, is particularly exciting for us.

“These sailings have been hand-crafted by our team of dedicated Journey Planners, to offer our guests something special at the time of year they are visiting. Plus, the smaller size of Balmoral means everyone can be sure of a warm and friendly atmosphere aboard all of her sailings, whether it’s for a warmer festive break or that once-in-a-lifetime voyage to South America and Antarctica.”

Departing from Portsmouth on December 10, the Balmoral will embark on a festive voyage to Spain and Portugal offering guests the opportunity to enjoy the light displays of Vigo and meander Funchal’s Christmas markets in Madeira.

Balmoral’s 12-night L2233 “Festive Spain and Portugal” cruise departs from Portsmouth on December 10 visiting Lisbon, Portugal, Cádiz, Spain, Funchal, Madeira, Vigo, Spain, and La Coruña, Spain before returning to Portsmouth, England.

Other sailings aboard the Balmoral will include Christmas celebrations in the Canaries.

On Thursday, December 22, the Balmoral will embark on a 14-night Christmas Celebrations in the Canaries voyage with calls in Funchal, Madeira, St Cruz De La Palma, Canary Islands, Arrecife, Canary Islands, and Tenerife, Canary Islands. Prices start from £1,599 per person.

On January 5, 2023, the Balmoral will set sail on its 78-night voyage circumnavigating South America and Antarctica.

Sailing from Southampton, England, the ship will call at Ponta Delgada, Azores, Portugal; Horta, Azores, Portugal; Hamilton, Bermuda; Havana, Cuba; Colon, Panama; Panama Canal; Guayaquil, Ecuador; Callao, Peru; Matarani, Peru; Arica, Chile; Valparaiso, Chile; Castro, Chile; Puerto Chacabuco, Chile; Chilean Fjords sailing; Punta Arenas, Chile; Magdalena & Cockburn Channel sailing; Cape Horn sailing; Ushuaia, Argentina; Drake Passage sailing; Antarctica Peninsula sailing; Port Stanley, Falkland Islands, and many other destinations.
