56. Happiest Season (2020)

One of the best Christmas movies to come out in recent years is Happiest Season. The movie follows Abby (Kristen Stewart), who is in a relationship with Harper (Mackenzie Davis). When Harper invites Abby to spend Christmas with her family, Abby agrees. However, she soon discovers that Harper has not yet come out to her family and is reluctant to do so over the holidays. As the two women navigate their relationship and try to find a way to make it work, they learn a lot about themselves and each other.


57. Love Actually (2003)

Released in 2003, this British romantic comedy follows the lives of eight different couples as they navigate the ups and downs of love and their respective relationships in the lead-up to Christmas. From first love to long-time marriages, Love Actually celebrates the many forms that love can take. And while the movie doesn’t shy away from the hardships that come with it, it ultimately affirms that love is worth fighting for.


58. The Apartment (1960)

The Apartment tells the story of a man who lends out his apartment to his superiors so that they can conduct their extramarital affairs in exchange for advancing his career. However, things become more complicated when he falls in love with one of the women involved. Now torn between his career and the woman he loves, he must ultimately decide which of the two he can’t live without.

This heartwarming tale follows the story of Lucy, who saves the life of a comatose stranger from muggers. Christmas Prince follows the story of Amber, a young woman who is sent to Aldovia to cover a press conference regarding Prince Richard’s coronation. Of course, things don’t go as planned, and Amber and Richard begin to fall in love with each other. With its touching story, gorgeous scenery, and charming cast, it’s no wonder Christmas Prince has become a holiday favorite cherished by people worldwide.


62. Four Christmases (2008)

One Christmas movie that has become popular in recent years is Four Christmases. The movie stars Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn as a couple who have to visit all four of their divorced parents’ homes on Christmas Day.

While the movie is funny, it also highlights the importance of family during the Christmas season. Christmas is a time for love, laughter, and togetherness, and the film reminds us of that. One Christmas classic is the 1949 film Holiday Affair. The movie is about a young widow named Connie, who supports his son by working as a mystery shopper. She meets Steve Mason, a veteran who works as a salesman at a New York department store, who helps her get away after catching her during one of her shopping trips (and gets him fired.) Steve then visits Connie at her home, only to meet Connie’s suitor, lawyer Carl Davis. Torn between the two and the memory of her late husband, will Connie find love again and, eventually, move on with her life?


65. The Holidays (2006)

The Holiday is a 2006 Christmas movie that tells the story of two women who swap homes for the holidays. Amanda (Cameron Diaz) is a successful Hollywood producer who is tired of her hectic life and decides to take a break. She swaps homes with Iris (Kate Winslet), a woman from a small town in England who is going through a heartbreak. As the two women spend time in each other’s homes, they begin to fall in love with the local men. The Holiday is a feel-good Christmas movie that will leave you feeling festive and romantic.


66. Let It Snow (2019)

Based on the best-selling novel of the same name, the 2019 movie Let It Snow follows a group of high school seniors, who are brought together during a snowstorm in Illinois, and how the encounter eventually changes their romantic lives and friendship forever.

With an excellent cast of veteran child actors like Anna Akana, Isabela Merced, Kiernan Shipka, and more, this teenage romcom film will surely be a delight during the holiday season.


67. Metropolitan (1990)

This 1990 Christmas movie follows a group of wealthy young socialites called the Sally Fowler Rat Pack who are navigating their way through the debutante season. The group then takes in a well-off Princeton student who despises their way of life and eventually acts as the spark for changing each other’s lives.


68. The Bishop’s Wife (1947)

The Bishop’s Wife tells the story of a bishop who is having problems looking for funds to build a new cathedral. After asking for guidance from above, his prayers are answered after an angel visits him. Along the way, the angel helps the bishop and his wife see what is truly important in life.

The movie also inspired a newer adaptation in the form of the 1996 film The Preacher’s Wife starring Denzel Washington.


69. Single All The Way (2021)

Single All The Way is a 2021 film that follows Peter, a gay man who dreads his family’s judging eyes about his single status whenever he visits for the holidays. To avoid this, Peter enlists the help of his best friend Nick to join him and pretend as his partner. However, will this pretend relationship blossom into something more?


Drama Holiday Movies

70. Joyeux Noël (2005)

Based on a real-life event that happened on the Western Front during World War I around Christmas 1914, Joyeux Noel (French for Merry Christmas) tells the story in the eyes of the French, Scottish, and Germans as they call for an unofficial Christmas truce. During this brief moment of peace, the soldiers from opposing sides partake in a unique form of brotherhood, singing Christmas songs, exchanging gifts, and even making friends.

The film manages to convey the message that there is goodness and hope in everyone, no matter where you come from, and it will surely fill you up with the Christmas spirit this season.


71. A Christmas Tale (2008)

Christmas Tale is a 2008 French Christmas movie centered around the lives of the Vuillard family. When Junon Vuillard, the mother and matriarch of the family, was diagnosed with leukemia shortly before Christmas, her whole family gathered around her for support. However, they are soon forced to confront their own personal issues amidst Junon’s illness.

Christmas Tale is a heartwarming drama that explores the true meaning of Christmas. The movie was a critical and commercial success, and has become a Christmas classic in its own right, making it a must-watch this Yuletide season.

72. Die Hard (1988)

Die Hard is one of the most popular movies of all time, and one of the best classic action movies you can watch this Christmas season.

On Christmas Eve, John McClane (played by Bruce Willis), a police officer in New York City, is visiting his estranged wife, Holly. He attends a holiday party with her at the corporate office of the Japanese-owned company she works for. However, a squad of terrorists attacks the elite high-rise and everyone inside, interrupting the celebrations. McClane quickly concludes that he is the only person who can save his wife and the hostages.


73. Batman Returns (1992)

Superhero movies are one of the best choices if you’re looking for some action, especially if it’s about Batman.

Batman Returns takes us to Gotham’s streets as the caped crusader takes on not just one but three villains: the monstrous Penguin, the ruthless Max Shreck, and the seductive Catwoman.

While the film is much darker (and probably not-so-kid-friendly) compared to other movies usually played at Christmas, Batman Returns is sure to take you on a thrilling ride from start to finish.


Musical Christmas Films

74. White Christmas (1954)

White Christmas takes us to a small Vermont town, where sister act Betty and Judy Haynes perform a Christmas show with singers Bob Wallace and Phil Davis. They encounter the boys’ World War II leader, Gen. Waverly and discover that he has financial issues. With the general’s charming country inn crumbling, what’s the foursome to do but plan a yuletide miracle: a fun-filled musical extravaganza that’s sure to put Waverly and his business on the map! 

While it may not be the most modern Christmas movie out there, White Christmas is a timeless classic that is sure to get you in the holiday spirit.


75. Anna and the Apocalypse (2018)

If you think zombies and musicals are not a good mix, you better think again! Here to prove that the two genres are, in fact, a perfect mash-up is the 2017 movie Anna and the Apocalypse. It tells the story of a group of high school students fighting for their lives after a zombie apocalypse breaks out on Christmas Eve.

Full of action, humor, and heart, Anna and the Apocalypse is a Christmas movie that will surely make you want to sing and dance your way through a zombie outbreak, if it ever occurs.


76. Babes in Toyland (1934)

One of the most popular Christmas movies of all time is Babes in Toyland. Released in 1934, the film tells the story of two children who are transported to a magical land where they must save Christmas from the evil ruler, Barnaby. Along the way, they meet a variety of colorful characters, including a friendly clown, a kindly old woman, and a mischievous cat. With its memorable songs and delightful visuals, Babes in Toyland is the perfect Christmas movie for the whole family.


77. Holiday Inn (1942)

Released in 1942, Holiday Inn tells the story of a pair of entertainers who open a hotel that is only open on holidays. The movie features some of Bill Crosby’s most famous songs, including “White Christmas,” and was a huge success. In fact, the song was so successful that it spawned a film of the same name, White Christmas, in 1954. Today, Holiday Inn remains a Christmas classic, and its songs continue to bring joy to people worldwide during the Yuletide season.


78. Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey (2020)

Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey is a 2020 Christmas musical movie about a genius toymaker named Jeronicus, who lost his Christmas spirit after his wife passed and his book of inventions stolen. After thirty years, his granddaughter, Journey, comes to visit and helps him remember the joy of Christmas. The movie is really cute and has great messages about the importance of family and friends. I definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a Christmas movie to watch this year.


79. Emmet Otter’s Jug-Band Christmas (1977)

While there are many Christmas classics out there, one of the hidden gems is Emmet Otter’s Jug-Band Christmas. The movie tells the story of Emmet Otter and his Ma, who unknowingly enter the same talent contest in hopes of winning the cash prize of $50 and buy each other a gift. While they don’t have much money, they do have talent and determination. Throughout the movie, they face many challenges but ultimately come together as a family.


Horror Christmas Movies

80. Black Christmas (2019)

A loose remake of one of the earliest cult-hit slasher films of the 1970s, Black Christmas tells the story of a group of sorority sisters at Hawthorne College during their Christmas break. When a masked killer starts killing them off one by one, they have no choice but to fight back together. However, what they will soon discover is a conspiracy rooted much deeper within their very own campus.


81. Eyes Wide Shut (1999)

Released in 1999, Eyes Wide Shut is a movie starring Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman. The film follows Dr. Bill Hartford, who becomes fixated on having a sexual experience when his wife, Alice, confesses to harboring dreams about a man she met. He finds a secret sexual organization and attends one of their sessions but soon realizes there is something more sinister to it than he bargained for. If you’re looking for a Christmas movie that’s slightly off the beaten path, then Eyes Wide Shut is worth a watch.


82. Krampus (2015)

While Christmas is a time for joy and happiness, this next film is the exact opposite of it. Enter Krampus, a demonic creature known for terrorizing naughty children during Christmas time. When a dysfunctional family causes one of the boys to lose his Christmas spirit, all hell breaks loose in their household. Now, the family must band together to put an end to the Krampus’ wrath and bring back the spirit of Christmas.


83. Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale (2010)

Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale is a Finnish fantasy horror film centered in the Finnish province of Lapland. A research team discovers a fell they believed is the home of a Joulupukki, a figure in Finnish folklore reminiscent of Santa Claus. However, unlike the cheerful St. Nick of legend, this Santa is a terrible, wicked figure who is said to boil children in a cauldron.

Strange events suddenly enveloped the locale, with household items and even children going missing. After a local reindeer slaughterer captures a mysterious old guy in his wolf trap, they might just have the key to understanding these bizarre happenings.


84. Better Watch Out (2017)

Better Watch Out is a 2016 psychological Christmas movie that is sure to give you the heebie-jeebies. 17-year-old Ashley goes on a trip to the Lerners’ suburban house to watch their 12-year-old son Luke. At first she’s excited to have the place to herself, but soon realizes that she may not be alone, or even safe, after all.

With a suspenseful plot and plenty of twists and turns, Better Watch Out is the perfect Christmas movie for those who are looking for something thrilling. So if you’re looking for a Christmas movie that will keep you on the edge of your seat, be sure to check out Better Watch Out.


85. A Christmas Horror Story (2015)

Christmas Horror Story is a 2015 Christmas horror anthology film featuring four thrilling stories, which all take place in a village called Bailey Downs. From students investigating a scene of a gruesome crime to Santa Claus fighting a zombie elf horde, this movie will surely be a fun and festive addition to your holiday horror genre.


86. Silent Night (2021)

Going further down the rabbit hole is the 2021 dark comedy film called Silent Night. In their gorgeous English country home, a couple invites their closest friends to share Christmas dinner with them and their family. It seems like the old days when the group assembles, but something is off despite all the laughter and good times. Amidst the festivities, no amount of presents, games, or alcohol can stop humanity’s approaching demise from happening, and they all know it.


87. The Wolf of Snow Hollow (2020)

The movie takes us to Snow Hollow, Utah, where John Marshall, a small-town sheriff, struggles to keep his head above water. When a series of brutal murders rocks the town, John finds himself in over his head. The bodies are mangled beyond recognition, and there seems to be no clear motive.

As the body count rises, John becomes desperate to catch the killer. But when he starts to suspect that the killer might actually be a werewolf, he begins to doubt his own sanity.


Hallmark Christmas Movies

88. A Christmas Tree Grows in Colorado (2020)

A Christmas Tree Grows in Colorado is a movie that follows Erin, the mayor’s daughter tasked with organizing the town’s Christmas festivities to promote holiday tourism. While visiting a friend, she notices a beautiful spruce tree owned by a hunky neighbor named Kevin. Seeing that the tree is the perfect Christmas tree for the celebration, she must now try and convince Kevin to donate the tree. However, it might not just be the tree she will be winning over.


89. A Gingerbread Romance (2018)

This movie starts just a few weeks before Christmas. With a possible promotion to another city in sight, architect Taylor agrees to enter a life-size gingerbread house-making competition. After her pastry chef partner backs out of the competition, Taylor finds herself in a neighborhood bakery where she recruits Adam, a baker and single father. As she bonds with Adam and her daughter, Taylor starts to long for a place she can truly call home.


90. A Royal Christmas (2014)

In the film, a woman named Emily falls in love with a man named Leo, who happens to be the crown prince of Cordinia. After they both fly to his home country for the holidays, Emily is met with disapproval by Queen Isadora, Leo’s mother, who believes he is better off with someone of their status. How will Emily adapt to this new royal lifestyle, and will she ever win the queen’s approval?


91. Christmas at the Plaza (2019)

Hallmark’s lovely 2019 movie Christmas at the Plaza takes us to the halls of the Plaza, where historian Jessica is tasked to spice up the place. With the help of a handsome Christmas decorator named Nick, she might just be able to pull it off.


92. Crown for Christmas (2015)

After losing her work as a hotel maid in New York City, Allie reluctantly agrees to take a temporary position as the governess of a little girl named Theodora. As she slowly wins Theodora’s heart over, she also starts to fall in love with her father Maximillian, who is, in fact, the widowed King of Winshire.


93. Debbie Macomber’s Mrs. Miracle (2021)

Hallmark’s newest adaptation of the fourth novel from Debbie Macomber’s Mrs. Miracle novels takes us to the lives of husband and wife Will and Laurel, whose dreams of having a baby seem to be impossible, along with shouldering a mountain of debt due to the treatments. To make matters even worse, Laurel’s grandfather passed away after moving in with them, causing her grandmother to lose her joy in life.

One day, the couple hires a caregiver to help them through the Christmas season. What comes knocking at their door is nothing short of a miracle, in the form of Gloria Merkel, also known as Mrs. Miracle. With her appearance in their lives, it looks like things will now start to turn for the better.


94. Jingle Bell Bride (2020)

Looking for a Christmas movie to get you in the loving holiday spirit? Check out Jingle Bell Bride. This charming film tells the story of Jessica Perez, a wedding planner who visits a small Alaskan village to obtain a rare flower for a famous client. While there, she falls in love with the townsfolk and the handsome local who helps her. Full of Christmas cheer and romance, Jingle Bell Bride is the perfect movie to snuggle up with this holiday season.


95. The Christmas House (2020)

The Christmas House centers around the Mitchell family. Husband and wife Bill and Phylis invite their two grown sons, TV stars Mike and Brandon, home for the holidays in hopes of recreating an old family tradition called “the Christmas House.” However, because of their personal issues, bringing back the tradition seems like a pipe dream. Despite that, can the Mitchells find a way to work together and make it a reality?


96. The Christmas Train (2017)

The film follows the cynical journalist Tom Langdon, who boards a train bound for Los Angeles in hopes of getting ideas for a book in honor of his late father.

However, Tom has no idea that the hardy locomotive carrying him across America will instead take a detour straight into his heart, into rude awakenings, his wildest hopes and dreams, and toward the opportunity for love he thought was lost for good.


97. A Bramble House Christmas (2017)

This movie tells the story of a guy who is suspicious of his late father’s decision to leave his nurse a sizable amount of money after knowing her for only two months. Thinking that she conned the money from his father, the man decides to follow her to a B&B in Oregon called The Bramble House. However, the plan backfires as he falls head over heels with the nurse, who is actually a hard working single mother supporting a young boy.


98. Christmas Everlasting (2018)

The Christmas Everlasting takes us to Lucy, a hotshot lawyer set to get a promotion after the New Year. However, with the sudden passing of her older sister, she was forced to return to her childhood home and manage things for her late sister. Once back, she learns that she must reside in their childhood home for a period of thirty days through the holidays before she may receive it.
