Hurricane Fiona Reaches Grand Turk
Hurricane Fiona slammed Turks and Caicos yesterday as the Category 3 storm continued to move north through the Caribbean.
It brushed the Carnival Corporation-owned development Grand Turk on Tuesday morning before heading north to the country’s main cluster of islands on Tuesday afternoon. A resident that lives two miles from the Grand Turk Cruise Center told Cruise Radio that he clocked 115 mph winds and that as of late Tuesday, things were starting to open back up.
South of Turks and Caicos, many parts of the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico were flooded and left without power due to the storm’s impact earlier this week.
At the time of recording, the storm is on track to hit Bermuda, and it could strengthen before the week ends.
Six Carnival Vista Itineraries Altered Due to Propulsion Issue
Six Carnival Vista itineraries have been modified due to a propulsion issue.
The cruise line said that it’ll be conducting maintenance on the ship during select cruises, which means the ship will be unable to sustain the maximum cruising speed necessary to operate certain itineraries.
Six western Caribbean voyages from October 15th to February 18th are being modified. Instead of visiting Jamaica and Grand Cayman, the sailings will stay further west, stopping in Belize and Roatán.
As a goodwill gesture for the unexpected change, the first two guests in all staterooms will receive 50 dollars in onboard credit each.
This is not the first time Carnival Vista has experienced propulsion issues. In the summer of 2019, nearly three weeks of cruises were canceled because of similar problem, along with a modified itinerary earlier this year.

Norwegian Cruise Line Makes Changes to Latitudes Rewards Dining Perk
Norwegian Cruise Line has made some changes to the specialty dining perk for Latitudes Rewards members.
Under the program, guests sailing five nights or longer who reach Platinum status receive two dining vouchers — one for a specialty restaurant with a free bottle of wine and a second for a specialty dinner without the wine. Previously, these vouchers were only valid for dinner at Moderno or La Cucina.
Now, the first voucher can be used at restaurants including Cagney’s, Le Bistro, and Ocean Blue. The second can be used for dinner at La Cucina, Food Republic, Q Texas Smokehouse, Teppanyaki, or American Diner.
Guests who sail with NCL are automatically enrolled in the Latitudes Rewards program.
The line also said that the Behind-the-Scenes Ship Tour and Dinner With the Officers are still paused following the cruise industry shutdown.
