The Netherlands Drops Covid Entry Restrictions For Travelers From All Countries

The government of the Netherlands has removed all COVID-19 restrictions on travel in the country. Even unvaccinated visitors are allowed to travel to the Netherlands now.

It remains to be seen if this decision, along with the decisions of the governments of other countries in the European Union, is wise or not. The idea is for all travelers, including those from the United States and Canada, to have a travel experience the same as it was before the pandemic.

No one is required to wear masks either. So, travelers who are high-risk for catching COVID-19 will have to take extra precautions to protect themselves.

The country’s busiest airport, Schiphol Airport, did not have good preparations in place for a rash of summer tourists. That promises to worsen now that there are no travel restrictions.

One of the biggest tourist draws of Amsterdam has always been the city’s lenient policies regarding cannabis. That may change soon, however, if the city’s mayor gets his way, and the leniency is only ever after applied to Amsterdam residents.

Despite the confidence of the Dutch government regarding COVID-19, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention still recommend great caution when traveling to the Netherlands. Also, they recommend that travelers be fully vaccinated no matter the lack of Dutch requirements regarding COVID-19.

Further, they recommend that high-risk patients consult with their doctors before traveling to the Netherlands. The recommendation is also that, should they have any misgivings before traveling, it would be a good idea to delay their trip until they feel more comfortable.
