Quality Filson Luggage and the Dryden Carry-on Travel Bag

If you’re a frequent traveler, you want luggage that is made well, will hold up to the challenges, and has a strong guarantee. All that is in place when you get Filson luggage and I’m really liking this new Dryden carry-on bag with wheels I’ve been checking out.

Filson Dryden Ducks Unlimited carry-on suitcase

Filson is a “made in America” brand that still produces much of its clothing stateside and they’re one of the longest-surviving companies in the land: they were established in 1897 in Seattle, Washington when that was a frontier town. Filson is known for its rugged outdoor clothing with a lifetime guarantee, but they also make terrific bags and luggage for outdoorsy types and adventurers.

The Dryden tw0-wheeled suitcase is marked as a Ducks Unlimited bag and part of the profits go to support that non-profit organization fighting to preserve wetland habitats.

This is one of those bags that feels like it’ll still be rolling after I’m not rolling so much myself anymore. It’s made from abrasion-resistant 1,000-denier ballistic nylon and comes with a lifetime warranty. If for some reason there’s a problem with the suitcase, there’s free shipping on the return even — but you probably won’t need to take advantage of that.

Come check out the details in this video tour:

For most trips, I prefer these two-wheel designs over the four-wheel ones because they’re more rugged and the wheels are usually larger, like the ones you see on inline roller skates. You can move a lot faster through an airport with one of these and if you encounter rough surfaces outside of the airport/hotel/taxi bubble, a suitcase like this can roll over them more easily.

This Filson Dryden suitcase has a set-up that will be familiar to people who have used a four-wheel hardshell case though because the goods are distributed on both sides of the bag. The top part has its own zippered enclosure, then there’s another compartment on the bottom plus a small top pocket.

One more pocket is accessible from the outside for papers, cords, or other items you need to get to without opening everything up. Then compression straps on the outside can help you squeeze it all in.

Otherwise, there’s a conventional telescoping handle that locks back in when not in use, handles on the top and side for lifting it up, and quality zippers. A few leather accents add to the upscale appeal. This only comes in the color you see here but I consider that a plus. It’s a natural color but the Dryden suitcase stands out when it comes rolling down the luggage carousel.

The company makes some terrific clothing (especially for cold climates) and accessories too. Filson usually offers free shipping if you spend $75 or more on your order.
