Jeep’s Fully Electric Off-Roader ‘Recon’ Will Debut in US in 2024

Removable doors. Power-folding rooftop. E-locking differentials. Underbody protection. Big AT tires. The Jeep nameplate. Ah, a new Wrangler must be on the horizon, you may be thinking.

Nope.

This is the Jeep Recon, one of two fully electric Jeeps set to hit the US market for the 2024 model year, which would typically mean availability in late fall 2023. The other is a more street-oriented Wagoneer S. We shall ignore that one for now.

Jeep hasn’t said much yet about the Recon’s battery, range, cost, or overall powertrain. We can assume dual motors for all-wheel drive. Unsure how a locking differential works on a dual motor EV, but we’ll see when it arrives. Thus far we have some computer renderings and a big commitment. The brand’s plug-in electric Wrangler 4xe has been a success for the brand so far, and was likely a toe dipped into the electric vehicle world.

The Recon will only come as an electric vehicle, we know that much.

Further details to come, etc.
