Which area in Hong Kong is best to stay in?

Now this depends on your interest and age group. Many young travelers prefer the Hong Kong Island as it is very upbeat and has a vibrant nightlife. The Central area is home to many expats and is a good place to network, connect, and meet people.

Shopping geeks prefer the Kowloon District as there are many cheap markets, street stalls, and anything that you need. Some vacationers prefer Lantau Island to get away from the bustle of city life.

Hong Kong Island

Hong Kong Island has so so many things to offer! Shopping, entertainment, famous attractions, and food. In the Central area, you can find the retail heart, high-end malls, and the iconic Victoria Harbour. If you are in for good nightlife, unforgettable bars, and pubs, then Lan Kwai Fong is a must.

There are countless dining options from street food to upscale restaurants. If cultural experience is your top priority, Hong Kong Central Library must be on your list.

Hong Kong Neighborhoods

Yau Tsim Mong District

The Yau Tsim Mong district is one of the busiest shopping and retail centers in Hong Kong. With the opening of several new sizable shopping malls in recent years, the district has become a hot spot for tourists and locals on holidays.

Retail or wholesale outlets and open bazaars on landmark streets offer a wide range of selections appealable to local customers and overseas tourists alike.

Tsim Sha Tsui and Mong Kok are major financial areas in Hong Kong. Banking, insurance, real estate, stocks and shares, import and export business, and professional agencies can all be found in this area.

And don’t forget Kowloon Park, which is also its main park. The district also has a tram stop at its main commercial street, Nathan Road.

Hong Kong Neighborhoods

Kowloon District

Kowloon City is situated in the center of Hong Kong. The walled city was once home to some 5,000 people. The present Kowloon Walled City Park contains two museums and a botanical garden that offer insight into life in Kowloon during its relatively chaotic years under Kowloon Municipality.

It features a beautiful city park that is included in this tour, as well as shopping malls, restaurants, and more. The area is between Hung Hum, Ho Man Tin, Kowloon Tong, and Beacon Hill to the west and north over to Kai Tak to the east.

Much of this area is residential, filled with estates, schools, small urban parks, and shopping centers, fairly typical of what you will find in other districts throughout Hong Kong.

If you’re looking for something more than a traditional sightseeing tour in Hong Kong, then this is the group you want to be on!

Hong Kong Neighborhoods

Lantau Island

Once you explore Lantau Island, you will want to book your ticket for the Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car. This cable car will allow you to have a glass-bottomed view of the whole island and get an amazing view of Hong Kong along with some amazing beauty spots and waterfalls.

From there you can start exploring other parts of Lantau like Po Lin Monastery or the Tian Tan Buddha itself. Within this area, life is a little slower—but not too much—and the roads are a little windier.

In a country that boasts the largest number of skyscrapers on earth, the extra personal space on hilly Lantau Island feels welcome.
