Intrepid named one of the world’s most innovative companies, according to Fast Company

Intrepid Travel are incredibly proud to announce that on March 8, 2022, we were named one of the World’s Most Innovative Companies according to Fast Company.

This globally recognised list ranks businesses – in all sectors, across the globe – that are making the most profound impact on both industry and culture in today’s world. These organisations not only find innovative ways to create value internally, but create shared value for their wider industry, customers and the planet.

22 INCREDIBLE NEW EXPERIENCES FOR 2022

According to Fast Company, Intrepid Travel was named eight on the list of 10 Most Innovative Companies in the travel sector for our leadership in intersectional sustainability, climate-safe travel and, notably, our advocacy and efforts to improve global vaccine equity in 2021 and beyond. As the world’s largest certified travel B Corp, Intrepid Travel has remained committed to our values throughout the global pandemic, creating new policies, trips and experiences that will influence and usher in a more sustainable and equitable future for the travel industry.

Here are three things we’ve done over the past year that led to this incredible recognition.

Progressing our work around Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

In 2021, Intrepid Travel continued to use our trips (and our business) as a force for good. As we continue our Reconciliation journey in Australia, we grew the number of Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander experiences from 12 to 40, with nearly half of our Australian itineraries now including a First Nations Experience.

In the United States, we used anti-colonialist principles to inform 38 new tours, which aim to offer a diverse and balanced perspective when visiting some of America’s most iconic places. Finally, on October 21, 2021, we introduced our first-ever ethical marketing policy, which seeks to improve BIPOC representation in the travel industry and hold ourselves accountable for progress.

Raising nearly $150,000 to support global vaccine equity

In August 2021 Intrepid Travel launched our Give The World A Shot campaign, kickstarting the fundraiser with a $50,000 donation. The campaign centres around improving global equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines through our philanthropic arm, The Intrepid Foundation. These funds will go to UNICEF Australia’s Give The World A Shot Campaign. UNICEF is leading the largest vaccine procurement and supply operation ever on behalf of the Global COVAX Facility. Mobilizing our operations team to improve community access to vaccines

Intrepid  mobilised its 23 operational offices across 5 continents to offer on-the-ground support, including logistical resources for remote communities. Everything from free transportation to vaccination hubs in Peru, to information sessions in Sri Lanka that addressed vaccine hesitancy.

Thank you to all of our team members, travellers, and industry partners who helped make this possible.
