Weight: 1.3 oz / 40 grams
Pros:

> Lightweight
> Compact
> Makes good quality coffee
> Reasonably Priced
Cons:
> Might be easy to lose the screw-on handles for the press
> Some coffee grounds can squeeze through the side of the press

If you own the MSR Windburner Stove and love good coffee then getting the coffee press is a bit of a no-brainer. The MSR coffee press for the Windburner is lightweight, compact, fits inside the stove when not in use, and makes good coffee.

Just like a French Press for coffee that you have at home you boil the water, add the coffee, wait a couple of minutes, use the press and you are ready to have good quality coffee. It is just very easy to use.

If could possibly complain about anything it would be that some of the coffee grounds managed to get through the side of the press. While the amount was very minimal it did happen. While not enough to stop me from buying and using the press it is something to keep in mind.

Overall, the MSR Windburner Coffee Press makes good coffee when hiking, backpacking or camping and is a good choice if you already have an MSR Windburner Stove.

Ease of Use

The Windburner Coffee Press fits inside the stove pot when not in use and is easy to use. The coffee press comes with the press and two screw-in extension handles to use to press the filter inside the pot.

Making coffee is a very simple exercise and works just like your French Press that you have at home. First, you boil the water, add your favorite coffee, wait a couple of minutes, use the press and you are ready to have good quality coffee.

It is also easy to clean and store inside the Stove when not in use.

Quality of Coffee

When it comes to coffee press kits or French Press Kits there is nothing worse than drinking your coffee and having your mouth fill with coffee grounds. I found on a couple of occasions that some coffee grounds passed through the side of the press.

I wasn’t sure if it was a user error or if I wasn’t allowing the coffee long enough time to brew before using the press. I tried brewing it for a short time and a long time and still a few coffee grounds got through the side of the press.

The amount was very minimal but enough that I could notice it. The amount was not enough for me to dislike the coffee that the coffee press produced.

MSR Windburner Coffee Press vs the Rest

If you own that MSR Windburner Stove then the coffee press should be on your list of things to take with you in the backcountry. However, when you compare it to all the best camping coffee makers it is lighter than most, reasonably priced, and makes quality coffee. As this will only work with the correct sized Windburner stove it would be a good idea to take a look at all the other options listed in the link below. It is certainly better than any of the Best Backpacking instant coffee on the market.
