Things You Need To Know Before Travelling To Singapore

The city-state of Singapore is one of a kind place and unlike anywhere else in the globe, despite its global ties.

It has the Vegas-style flash and glamour, a market in Taipei’s lingering odours, and public transportation that is as environmentally friendly as that found in Colombian cities. Singapore, on the other hand, is an anomaly.

Singapore is a strange place to visit for the first time. Despite the fact that it’s strangely similar in many respects, you’re always aware that you’re in unfamiliar territory and travellers should be prepared for this unusual combo.

All that being said here are a few factors you should know before travelling to Singapore.

Singapore is a Walkable City

There are few cities in the world that allow you to stroll practically everywhere.

Yes, while there’s a fantastic metro that allows you to navigate longer distances efficiently, this whole nation can be traversed on foot.

Walking about and taking in the atmosphere (check out some self walking routes here) is one of my favourite ways to explore a new place, it’s also great for your health so it’s a win-win situation.

Just be aware that the humidity in Singapore means you may need a change of clothes after a day out walking. Be preapred to sweat!

Singapore Is Safe

Singapore is one of the most secure cities in Asia, and perhaps throughout the globe. It’s expensive – but it’s safe!

It’s just as safe in Singapore as it is in Japan, Taiwan, or Australia; crime here punishable by severe penalties, hence there are huge detterants and not a lot of it.

As a result, Singapore may be considered extremely safe in all respects, whether you’re a female traveler conerned about personal safety, or a photographer who’s hauling around a lot of gear.

Singapore Online Casinos

This tip is for travellers who likes to gamble. Online casinos aren’t legal in Singapore, so if this is how you relax at the end of the night, you’ll have to use offshore platforms.

Casino players in Singapore are able to overcome the country’s strict gambling laws by signing up with offshore operators based outside of the country. Though most tend to make a short flight to places like Macau.

If you’re looking to wager take a look at a guide to the best offshore casinos that accept players from Singapore in order to ensure a safe, reliable and relaxed gaming experience. Offshore casinos operate in a legal loophole.

Singapore is Clean

Singapore is a spotlessly clean city in part because of its tight zoning regulations. Both literally and metaphorically, it’s a breath of fresh air.

Singapore is the cleanest city in the world. Streets are litter-free, buildings are graffiti-free, and public transportation appears to have never been utilised.

Singapore is Multicultural

In the beginning, I thought Singapore was like a trip across the world in a single city. It’s one of the world’s most multicultural cities, with fragments of several cultures strewn around the city.

I was apprehensive about Singapore’s percieved lack of it’s own culture before my arrival. But, as I quickly discovered, it’s a great spot to get a taste of a variety of cultures without having to go to a lot of other places.

It’s Surprisingly Hot

It’s hot and humid in Singapore. That implies there’s a good chance you’ll end yourself covered in sludge.

You’ll want to dress appropriately for the weather in Singapore, too. Consider packing plenty of light, airy summer attire to keep you comfortable.

Singaporeans, for their part, seem to enjoy their air conditioning as much as the rest of us. For the next five minutes, you’ll be able to breathe a sigh of relief from the heat. As a result, you’re likely to feel the chill.

Bring a light jacket with you when you visit locations with air conditioning so you can quickly put it on!

The Food

Because of the diversepopulation, it’s not surprising that the cuisine is outstanding. Everything from Lebanese shawarma to Chinese pork ribs is readily available.

For a city as costly as Singapore, its cuisine is surprisingly affordable! The ‘Hawker Centres’ are where the food is, though of course you can opt for the more expensive restaurants.

These hawker centres are frequented by Singaporeans, making it a fantastic place to mingle with the locals.

Singapore is a mega place to visit and should be on everyone’s travel list, from the cuisine and extremely clean and safe streets to the extraordinarily diverse culture it’s truly a place of wonder.

With the sunny climates, we recommend looking at how to remove shadows from your travel photos as you will run into this issue quite a bit in your travels through Singapore!
